These once lumpy, vintage beads from the mid-20th century have been worn smooth after close to 100 years of use as part of a old Yemen necklace.
In its original setting, this piece would have hung among other such pendants, beads and coins on the neck of a wedding necklace made as bride wealth as was the custom in Yemen in the 1900s. It might have been attached to a fabric backing for the headpiece of the bride or it may have hung from the bottom strand of multiple rows of silver and amber beads, as we see in wedding photos and museum displays of Yemeni bridal dowries.Good condition
